"Feeding an infant after the sixth month is permissible and normal. The general rule regarding customs is permissibility unless the Sacred Law prohibits them, as stated by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah: 'The fundamental principle concerning customs is pardon; nothing is forbidden among them except what has been explicitly prohibited.' Furthermore, the emergence of an infant's teeth at this age indicates their body's readiness for food, which aligns with what Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned regarding the necessity of restricting to milk until the teeth grow, followed by a gradual introduction of soft foods. Preventing the infant from solid food might harm them due to insufficient breast milk and because they desire food. Gradually introducing food prepares them for weaning and facilitates the transition from breastfeeding to solid food."
