What is the ruling on a husband concealing acts of obedience and worship from his wife, such as fasting and 'Umrah, to avoid showing off, and is it permissible for the wife to insist on asking about them?

Congratulations on the blessing of guidance and righteousness, and we ask Allah to grant you sincerity. It is preferable to conceal acts of obedience unless there is a need to reveal them. You are not obliged to inform your wife of all your actions. Indeed, the Salaf (pious predecessors) recommended that a man have a hidden good deed unknown to his wife. Do not overdo it in concealing ordinary matters from her; it may even be preferable to consult her to gladden her heart. There is no harm in showing some acts of obedience if you are safe from ostentation (riya'). Lying to one's wife is permissible if it does not pertain to her rights. The important thing is to be wise in concealing acts of obedience and achieving sincerity, avoiding disputes with your wife, and keeping away Satan, who seeks to separate spouses.
