There is no Quranic verse indicating that all creatures sleep. Sleep is exclusive to living beings that possess a soul, such as humans and animals. Sleep is a state in which a living being regains its strength after fatigue, and its perception and basic movements are temporarily inhibited. It is called "the minor death" due to its similarity with death in the severance of the soul's attachment to the body.
