Is someone who owns a house, a car, and a sufficient income, but has no cash for Hajj, obligated to sell his house or car, or to borrow for Hajj despite the difficulty of repayment?

The ability to perform Hajj is a condition for its obligation, based on Allah’s saying: ﴿And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way.﴾ [Aal-Imran: 97]. If the ability is not available, then Hajj is not obligatory, and one is not required to sell their house or car for Hajj, as they are essential needs. However, if one can do without the car by using something cheaper, then they must sell it and perform Hajj with the remaining money if it is sufficient. One is not obligated to borrow money for Hajj.
