Is it permissible to marry someone who is preparing for their marriage with money suspected of being unlawful, knowing that there are rumors about the source of this money and that there is no other source for it?

One should not harbor ill thoughts about a Muslim for possessing wealth whose source is unknown, as Allah the Almighty says: "O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin." And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is enough sin for a man to narrate everything he hears." Inherited wealth is lawful for the heir unless its unlawfulness is known, and he is not obligated to search for its source. If he knows that there is something unlawful in it, he must disburse its equivalent through diligence. If he knows its unlawfulness, the death of the inheritor does not purify it. There is no harm in using inherited wealth for a wedding and wedding preparations, unless there is clear evidence that most of it is unlawful.
