Is it permissible to take a portion of money earned through unlawful means—money that has accumulated significantly after effort, time, and lawful funds were lost in a previous permissible business—in order to establish another permissible business, and then later donate the amount of unlawful money that was taken?
Unlawful wealth is ominous and dangerous. Texts warn against it, such as the hadith: "Indeed, Allah is good and accepts only what is good," and the hadith about a Muslim being questioned on the Day of Judgment about his life, wealth, and body, and the hadith: "No flesh that has been nourished by unlawful earnings will enter Paradise."
Continuing to earn unlawful wealth with the intention of repenting later is a grave mistake and a satanic trick. A Muslim must repent sincerely and immediately by refraining from unlawful earnings, regretting them, and resolving never to return to them.
Any unlawful wealth exceeding the original capital must be disposed of by spending it on general good causes, such as giving to the poor and needy. If the person is poor, they may take from it only what they need.
A small amount of lawful and good wealth is better than a large amount of unlawful wealth, which has no blessing, as Allah Almighty says: "Say: 'Not equal are the evil and the good, even if the abundance of evil were to impress you.'"
It is advisable to consult a trustworthy scholar to determine the nature of forbidden transactions and the reason for their prohibition.
