What is the ruling on repentance if a person leaves the hospital or dies?

The door of repentance is open until the throes of death, and he who repents of a sin is like one who has no sin. Allah Almighty says: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'" [Az-Zumar: 53]. And in the Hadith Qudsi: "O son of Adam, as long as you invoke Me and hope in Me, I will forgive you for what you have done, and I do not mind." One must hasten to repent and not delay it.
