How can one make up for what has passed and seize what remains of life, and rush to compensate for the devotional aspect to gain the greatest possible amount of good deeds, and what are the means for that, and how can rewards be magnified and multiplied?

Sins of the past require repentance and frequent seeking of forgiveness. Remedying deficiencies in worship is achieved by increasing acts of worship, remembrance (dhikr), reading the Quran, and supplication (du'a). Among the deeds for which the reward is multiplied are: fasting, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Hold fast to fasting, for there is nothing like it"; and increasing prayer, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Prayer is the best of deeds, so whoever can increase it, let him do so"; and attending to the needs of widows and the poor, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The one who strives for the widow and the poor is like the mujahid in the way of Allah... and like the one who fasts without breaking his fast."
