Is a Muslim required to do anything specific, such as slaughtering an animal, giving charity, or reciting a Hadith or a verse, when purchasing a new home or before entering it for the first time?

There is no evidence that obliges slaughtering, giving charity, or reciting verses when buying a new house or before moving into it. However, if one does so out of gratitude to Allah, it is good. It is recommended upon entering a house to say: "A'udhu bi kalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq" (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created), and to recite something from the Qur'an, especially Surat Al-Baqarah, to expel devils, and to be diligent in the remembrance (adhkar) for entering and leaving the house.
