What is the ruling on wearing the ghitra? Is it the taylasan that was prohibited for the purpose of opposing Jews and Christians? Did the Prophet (peace be upon him) wear it, or did he wear a turban and a qulansuwa? What was the description of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) clothing and its colors?

The Sunnah in clothing is to wear what is readily available and consistent with the attire of the people of the time and place among Muslims, unless there is a specific command to wear certain clothing, in which case it becomes desirable or obligatory, or a prohibition against wearing certain clothing, in which case it becomes forbidden or disliked.

Nothing has been authentically reported regarding the virtue of the turban; all narrations concerning it are weak or fabricated. It is not reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, wore the ghutrah (head covering). Scholars are not restricted by the turban or the ghutrah due to the absence of an established Sunnah regarding them. The Shafi'is and Hanbalis have stated the desirability of wearing the turban in imitation of the Prophet, but the correct view is that it is not a regular Sunnah.

The tayalisah are a type of cloak, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, wore them. There is disagreement regarding the dislike of wearing them; some disliked them due to their resemblance to Jewish attire, while others see no dislike in them.
