What is your advice for someone who tries to form friendships in vain? And what is the meaning of the Hadith: "Souls are like conscripted soldiers; those that recognize each other will become friends, and those that do not recognize each other will differ"?

We advise you to fear Allah and observe His obligatory duties, and to draw closer to Him through supererogatory acts and good deeds. This will bring about Allah’s love, people’s love, and happiness in this world and the Hereafter. In the Hadith Qudsi (Sacred Hadith): "My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory acts until I love him." Among the means of gaining people’s love are abstaining from coveting what they possess, being kind to them, helping them, wishing good for them, appreciating them, and caring for them. We also advise choosing righteous friends and staying away from bad companions.
