Is it permissible for women to wear socks while in a state of Ihram?
A woman, whether in a state of ihram or not, must cover her feet with socks or other coverings in front of non-mahram men, as they are considered 'awrah (parts of the body that must be covered). It is forbidden to uncover them. This is supported by what Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated when she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about women's trains (of their garments). He said: "They should lower it a hand span." She said: "Then their feet will be uncovered." He said: "Then they should lower it an arm's length, and not exceed that." And the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The woman is 'awrah."
