Is it permissible for a brother who has resolved to return from the lands of the disbelievers to remain there for four months to benefit from its advantages, such as purchasing goods for sale or treating one of the parents, and to collect his money from his friends?

The fatwa answers that emigration from infidel lands to Islamic lands is obligatory if a Muslim is unable to practice the rituals of his religion or fears falling into sins. Whoever wishes to repent from residing in those lands must hasten to emigrate. However, if a Muslim is able to perform his rituals and avoid prohibitions, emigration is not obligatory for him, although it is preferable. He should be keen on performing the obligatory duties, staying away from prohibitions, and not being drawn into the temptations of life.
