Where was Sayyida Zaynab, may Allah be pleased with her, buried, and was she buried in Syria?
One of the greatest causes of misguidance for the children of Adam is exaggeration concerning the righteous and the polytheism that occurs at their graves, along with the channeling of acts of worship to other than Allah.
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "(O Allah, do not make my grave an idol. May Allah curse a people who take the graves of their prophets as places of worship)," narrated by Imam Ahmad. He also said: "(Do not make your houses graves, and do not make my grave a place of celebration. Send blessings upon me, for your blessings reach me wherever you are)," narrated by Abu Dawud.
What grave-worshippers do at graves is proof of the falsehood of their actions, including their disagreement over the locations of the alleged graves.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "The general matter of these graves and shrines is confused and fabricated; it is scarcely possible to ascertain knowledge from it."
