Does a divorce uttered by the husband three times while he was alone and angry, and had not yet consummated the marriage with his wife, take effect, and what are the consequences of that?
If a divorce occurs in a state of extreme anger where the husband does not comprehend what he is saying, or if it is due to obsessive-compulsive disorder that prevents him from intending divorce, then the divorce does not take effect. However, if the anger is mild and he understands what he is saying, or if he intends the divorce, then it takes effect.
As for a woman who has not been consummated with, she is divorced by a single pronouncement, even if the husband utters the divorce three times. This is because she becomes irrevocably divorced with one pronouncement, and no further divorce can occur thereafter, as she is no longer his wife, and she is not required to observe an ' (waiting period).
