What is the ruling on one who flatters his manager, diminishes the work of others, exaggerates his own work, and benefits from this by obtaining illicit privileges, such as leaving work and returning only to sign out?
A subordinate's flattery of his manager to overlook his shortcomings, or to give him what he is not entitled to, is unlawful and a betrayal of trust. If this is compounded by mistreating others, his sin increases. The subordinate must fear Allah and perform his work with diligence, trustworthiness, and sincerity, and manage his time well, even if others fall short, in compliance with the words of Allah Almighty: {Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due}, and to avoid the characteristics of the hypocrites, which include betrayal of trusts.
