How authentic is the Hadith: "Jihad will remain sweet and green as long as rain falls from the sky, and a time will come upon people when reciters among them will say, 'This is not a time for Jihad.' So, whoever reaches that time, then it is an excellent time for Jihad," narrated from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and what is its source?

The narration mentioned by the questioner was narrated by Abu 'Amr al-Dani al-Andalusi from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam from his father, and it is a mursal narration. As for Ibn 'Asakir's narration, it is with a different wording from Anas from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Jihad will remain sweet as long as the sky rains and the earth produces vegetation. And there will arise a generation from the East who will say: 'No jihad and no ribat.' Those are the fuel of the Fire. Indeed, one day of ribat in the way of Allah is better than freeing a thousand slaves, and better than the charity of all the people of the earth." The author of Kanz al-'Ummal pointed out the weakness of this narration from Anas.
