What is the authenticity of the Hadith: "Do not revile time, for time is Allah," and is it used by a specific group?

The hadith in question is authentic, narrated by Muslim with the wording: "Do not revile ad-dahr (time/fate), for Allah is ad-dahr," and by Al-Bukhari with the wording: "The Children of Adam revile ad-dahr, and I am ad-dahr; in My hand are the night and day." The entire Ummah is commanded to adhere to it, based on the words of Allah Almighty: "And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you from, abstain from it." Its meaning, as stated by An-Nawawi, is that the Arabs used to revile ad-dahr when calamities struck. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade them from this because the doer of calamities is Allah, so reviling ad-dahr falls upon Allah. Ad-dahr itself has no action; rather, it is a created thing. The meaning of "for Allah is ad-dahr" is: the Doer of calamities and the Creator of beings.
