Will Allah forgive the sin of someone who swore a false oath upon the Mus'haf, causing financial loss to another person, knowing that he swore under duress, and is he obliged to return what the other party lost for Allah to forgive him?
A false oath sworn on the Holy Qur'an is among the gravest sins and is considered a major offense. One must hasten to repent to Allah for it. The majority of scholars hold that no expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin) is required for it because it is too great to be expiated. The guarantor must be given what he paid for the lost residency permit, but he is not entitled to the renewal fees if he was originally obligated to pay them.
