The fundamental principle for a layperson, when confronted with differing opinions among Muftis, is to act upon the opinion that reassures him of its correctness and its conformity with the truth. It is not permissible for him to act upon an opinion about whose correctness he entertains doubt. As for the person afflicted with (obsessive doubts), who doubts a due to his Waswas, he must disregard these doubts. It is permissible for him to act upon the easiest of opinions, and this is not considered blameworthy leniency.
