Is it permissible to pray Istikhara concerning a matter of divorce?

The Istikhara prayer is legislated for permissible matters or for choosing between recommended acts. It is not legislated for obligatory, forbidden, or disliked matters. Divorce is subject to the five legal rulings. It is recommended for the husband to perform Istikhara regarding it if it is permissible. Similarly, it is recommended for the wife to perform Istikhara when seeking divorce if her request is permissible. However, if divorce is disliked, obligatory, or forbidden, then Istikhara is not legislated for it.
