How can one adhere to the Sunnah of the Prophet, memorize the Qur'an, and gain deep understanding in the religion while facing familial difficulties such as the playing of music and movies, the mother's disapproval of growing a beard and shortening the garment (izār), and the questioner's delay in praying Fajr due to staying up late? And is it better to watch and listen to what goes on in the house without concern, or to leave it?

Allah Almighty intended good for you by inspiring in you the love of memorizing the Quran and gaining understanding in the religion. So, praise Allah for this and approach Him with diligence and vigor, and ask Allah for help and guidance.

We advise you to distance yourself from the disturbances of the home and the sounds of musical instruments, and to be patient and seek reward. Try gently and wisely to change the reprehensible gradually, for many homes have transformed from reprehensible acts to acts of obedience by the grace of Allah, and then by the efforts of righteous youth. We ask Allah to rectify your home because of you.

Finally, we advise you to communicate with the scholars and righteous people in your country so they can help you reform your family and your home.
