The question

What is the ruling on someone who wakes up a quarter of an hour before the end of the Fajr time, having missed the Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr prayers due to sleep? Should he pray Fajr first, or should he start with Maghrib, then Isha, then Fajr, taking into account the detested time (waqt al-karaha) at sunrise?

The answer

If a person wakes up a quarter of an hour before sunrise and has missed prayers (Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr), they should consider the remaining time:

- If there is enough time for all three prayers after purification, they should pray them in order: Maghrib, then Isha, then Fajr.

- If there is only enough time for the Fajr prayer, then Fajr must be prayed first, and Maghrib and Isha should be made up afterward. This is based on the jurists' ruling that if one fears missing a current prayer by its time expiring, they should prioritize it.

It is permissible to make up missed prayers during times when prayer is generally prohibited.
