The question

What would you do regarding a young man proposing to your daughter, knowing that he works in an interest-based (non-Islamic) bank, in a department not dealing with loans, and knowing also that you have learned that working in non-Islamic banks is usury (riba) and forbidden, despite him being a person of good character and religiosity, who prays and fasts?

The answer

Working in usury is not permissible.

However, for one who works in it in a capacity that does not involve supervision over usurious contracts, nor direct assistance with them, imitating those scholars who permit it—we do not see that this compromises his religion or his character, if he is a person of religion and good character.
