What is the ruling on working as an accountant in a company that sells mannequins or statues, and does this fall under the ruling of prohibiting trade in them?
Making, using, and selling statues is forbidden (haram), as is using them for displaying clothes, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) sayings: "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of alcoholic beverages, dead animals, pigs, and idols," and "The most severely punished people on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers," and "Do not leave any image without obliterating it." An exception to this is headless statues, based on the saying of Ibn Abbas: "The image is the head; if the head is cut off, it is not an image." It is not permissible to work for a company that sells statues, as this involves cooperation in sin and aggression.
