Is it mentioned in the hadiths that the soil in which a person is buried is the same soil from which he was created?
There are narrations with this meaning, among them what Al-Bayhaqi narrated from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said about a funeral: "There is no god but Allah. He was led from his earth and his heaven to the soil from which he was created." Al-Albani graded it as hasan (good). It is also reported in Al-Suyuti's Jami' Al-Ahadith: "There is no newborn but that in their navel is some of the soil from which they are born. So when they are returned to the most decrepit age, they are returned to the soil from which they were created until they are buried in it." This hadith is weak. There is also an athar (saying) from Ibn Abbas, which has the ruling of being marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), indicating that every person was created from the dust of the place where they will be buried.
