Is it permissible to follow the opinion of Ibn Uthaymeen regarding wiping over socks for whoever deems it correct?

The issue of the description of the sock upon which wiping is permissible is a matter of ijtihad (definition) (independent reasoning) and a point of contention among scholars. There is no blame upon you if you adhere to a view that has justification, strength, and evidence, such as the view of Ibn Uthaymin and Ibn Taymiyyah. Ibn Uthaymin is qualified to give preference [to a view] based on what the evidence dictates to him. Allah Almighty said: (So ask the people of the message if you do not know).
