How many times should one wipe over an open wound during ablution (wudu') and ritual bathing (ghusl)? Is it once or three times?

Wiping over wounds on the parts of the body used for ablution should be done only once, and repetition is not required. This is the correct view because repetition is generally not legislated for wiping, and because the basis of wiping is ease and facilitation, as is the case with wiping over the khuffayn (leather socks) and splints, where repeating the wipe is not sunnah, even though what is beneath them would normally be washed three times.
