How authentic is the story of Hatim al-Asamm's journey to Hajj, and why do some shaykhs speak of it despite the absence of an isnad for it?

The story of Hatim al-Asamm, his longing for Hajj, his journey, his leaving his family without money, and what happened to them afterwards has not been transmitted with an authentic chain of narration in history or biography books. Rather, Shihab al-Din al-Abshahi mentioned it in "Al-Mustatraf fi Kull Fann Mustazraf" without a chain of narration. Some researchers have mentioned that al-Abshahi frequently transmits unauthentic stories in his book. Scholars are lenient in narrating such stories for admonition and edification, not for using them as evidence.
