What is the ruling on believing in zombies, and is it a form of disbelief (kufr)?

The term "zombie" refers to reanimated corpses and has gained popularity in folklore and science fiction films. There is no concept of zombies in Islamic belief. The dead remain dead until Allah resurrects them on the Day of Judgment, and they do not return to this world, as confirmed by the Almighty's saying: ﴿And behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected﴾. Believing that the dead can return to this world contradicts religious texts and is considered disbelief if it is accompanied by a denial of resurrection and accountability.
