What is the ruling on repeating a single ghusl for a single state of janabah?

If the ghusl (ritual bath) is performed correctly, it is not prescribed to repeat it. This is because doing so constitutes extravagance and excessiveness in purification, which is forbidden by Islamic law. None of the jurists have stated that it is desirable to repeat ghusl. Rather, the jurists of the Hanafi and Shafi'i schools explicitly stated that it is not desirable. If the repetition is due to obsessive thoughts (waswas), then these thoughts should be disregarded if the ghusl was performed correctly.
