What should a person do if they are trying to maintain ties of kinship with their deceased parents' relatives, especially their maternal uncle and aunt, but they experience bad treatment and coldness from them, while harboring feelings of hatred towards them internally?
Righteousness towards parents is among the best deeds. After their death, honoring them includes supplicating for them, giving charity on their behalf, maintaining ties of kinship, and showing respect to their friends. It is obligatory to continue maintaining ties of kinship with kindness, seeking Allah’s pleasure, even with those who harbor ill will due to their bad actions, as long as there is no harm. This is because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded maintaining kinship ties even with those who sever them, as stated in the Hadith: "The one who maintains ties of kinship is not the one who reciprocates, but the one who maintains ties of kinship is he who, when his ties of kinship are cut off, he re-establishes them." Maintaining ties with indifferent relatives brings greater reward and is closer to sincerity. It is also among the reasons for blessings in sustenance and lifespan.
