Is it obligatory to leave medical school for one who cheated on its exams and in the general secondary examination that qualified him to enter it, given that the grades of all years are counted in the total aggregate, and based on a previous fatwa by Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen that consideration is given to the final year? Does this fatwa apply to the aforementioned case?

The questioner mentioned that he became aware of the scholarly اختلاف (disagreement) regarding the permissibility of salary for someone who obtained a job with a certificate acquired through cheating, and that he emulates Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen in all matters.

It was reported that Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen held the view that if the cheating occurred in a subject unrelated to the work, then repentance is sufficient, and the salary is permissible. However, if the cheating was in the final stage of obtaining the certificate, then the money has an element of doubt. If one repents sincerely and the subject in which cheating occurred has no connection to the job, then we hope his salary is permissible. The Sheikh paused concerning the issue of a certificate being based on cheating, pointing out that the salary is deserved based on the certificate, and the certificate is falsified.
