What is the ruling on someone who sprinkles water in the four corners of a room for a sick person to ward off jinn, given that this practice is not authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him), and what is the ruling on disseminating such information?

It is not permissible to sprinkle water upon which Ruqyah has been recited in the corners of a room to trap Jinn, as this is not from the guidance of the Prophet (peace be upon him) nor the practice of the righteous predecessors.

It has been narrated from the righteous predecessors - may Allah have mercy on them - that they only used water upon which Ruqyah was recited for drinking and bathing, as mentioned by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, and al-Nawawi.
