Is it permissible to make up the fast of the Day of 'Arafah after having masturbated unintentionally?

Regarding the making up of the fast of Arafah or other timed supererogatory fasts, scholars differ on two opinions: one holds the view that it is sunnah (recommended) to make it up due to the generality of the evidence, and the other holds the view that it is not sunnah to make it up because the timed meaning is lost with the passing of its time. As for the practice of masturbation during fasting, if it was unintentional (out of forgetfulness or unconsciously), then the fast is valid. However, if it was by choice and with awareness of fasting, then the fast is invalidated by it.
