Jurists have differed regarding the ruling on dancing in general. The preponderant opinion, in our view, is that it is disliked (makruh) if it is free from শরعي (Shar'i) violations, such as prohibited singing, musical instruments, exposure of 'awrah (private parts), swaying, and provocative undulations that incite desires. The ruling on football players' dancing does not differ from the ruling on dancing in general, though the likelihood of 'awrah exposure in it is greater than in other forms.
