The answer

All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and companions. As for what follows:

A is a section of the Qur’an, no less than three verses, and it is a Qur’anic text that contains verses with a beginning and an end. It can be pronounced with or without a hamza (ء). Those who pronounce it with a hamza relate it to su'r, which is what remains of a drink in a vessel, and it is likened to the wall (sur) of a building or the wall of a city, because it encompasses its verses and brings them together. The number of Surahs in the Qur’an is mentioned in : 31812.
