Is the use of deodorants and moisturizing creams permissible?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible for a pilgrim in a state of ihram to use deodorant if it is free of perfume; otherwise, it is not permissible, and a fidyah (expiation) is due. As for creams, the Hanafi and Maliki schools absolutely prohibit them. The Shafi'i school prohibits them only for the hair of the head and face. The Hanbali school permits them absolutely, provided they are free of perfume.
