If you see good in using the thing you swore an oath against, then do it and expiate your oath, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If one of you takes an oath and then sees something better than it, let him expiate his oath and do what is better."

If you need the gold for adornment and it is not in excess of what is customary, you are not obliged to sell it to pay the expiation. Rather, keep it and expiate by fasting, because feeding is obligatory only for one who has more than his needs, and a woman's jewelry is among her essential needs. However, if it is in excess of your needs, then you must sell the excess and use it for expiation.
