Is it considered arrogance to feel distressed upon hearing advice from a specific person one dislikes, while this does not occur when hearing it from others?
A mere constriction of the chest is not considered arrogance, unless it is accompanied by a rejection of the truth and an haughtiness in accepting it. Arrogance is "batar al-ḥaqq wa ghamṭ an-nās"; that is, rejecting and denying the truth, and despising people. Therefore, if you do not reject the truth or show arrogance in submitting to it, then you are not among the arrogant. As for the constriction of the chest towards an adviser whom you dislike, that does no harm. It is recommended to have a sound heart towards all Muslims and to avoid hatred without a legitimate religious reason.
