What are the two types of attire that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade, and what is the meaning of the two transactions of al-mulamasah and al-munabadhah?

Al-Bukhari and others narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade two types of sales, two types of dress, and two types of prayers. The two types of dress are: Ishtimal al-Samma’ (enveloping oneself completely), which is for a person to cover his entire body with a garment without lifting any part of it, or to wrap himself in a garment and lift one side of it, placing it over his shoulders, thus exposing his private parts. The second is al-Ihtiba’ (sitting with one’s knees drawn up) with a single garment, exposing one’s private parts to the sky, meaning without covering the ‘awrah (private parts). As for the two forbidden sales, they are: al-Mulamasah, which is when touching a garment constitutes the sale, without seeing it or mutual consent; and al-Munabadhah, which is when each party throwing his garment to the other constitutes the sale, without looking at it or mutual consent. The reason for the prohibition of these two sales is gharaar (excessive uncertainty) and jahalah (ignorance).
