Is it permissible for mosque committees to collect the hides of sacrificial animals, sell them, and spend the proceeds on building mosques, under the pretext that people do not need them and discard them? And is it permissible for a person to give them the hide of their sacrificial animal, knowing that they will sell it?

The sacrificer is not permitted to sell the hide of his sacrificial animal, because it has been designated for Allah Almighty by the slaughter, with all its parts. What has been designated for Allah cannot be compensated for. For this reason, the butcher should not be given anything from it as payment, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded me to oversee his sacrificial animals and to give in charity their meat, hides, and coverings, and not to give the butcher anything from them."

The correct approach is to benefit from the hide or to give it in charity to the poor and needy. If it is given in charity to a poor person, there is no harm for the poor person to sell it. As for selling the hide and giving its price in charity, scholars have differed on this matter; some have permitted it, while others have prohibited it.

Therefore, there is no harm in giving the hides to charitable organizations that sell them and give their price in charity, as this is a beneficial project from which the poor can benefit.
