How did Allah favor some of us over others in provision, and does this favoritism apply to the individual elements of provision mentioned in the Quran or to their totality?

Allah Almighty stated in the Quran that the sunnah (divine law) of differentiation and variation in sustenance and all other material and spiritual aspects of life is a constant sunnah and an innate nature upon which Allah established life, and it does not change. Umar ibn al-Khattab wrote to Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, explaining that Allah has favored some of His servants over others in sustenance as a test; He tests the rich person by their gratitude and fulfillment of rights, and the poor person by their patience. Al-Shawkani mentioned that this variation includes sustenance, intellect, knowledge, health, and other aspects, and it is for a profound wisdom. Allah alone holds the sustenance of His servants and the favoring of some over others, and it is incumbent upon the servant to submit and acknowledge this.
