Do hearts hear, see, and reason?

The function of hearts is to comprehend and understand matters, because hearts are the seat of intellect. Meanwhile, hearing is related to the ear, and sight is related to the eye, as stated in the Almighty's saying: "Have they not traveled through the land, and have hearts by which they reason, or ears by which they hear? For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts," and His saying: "And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, and they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. Those are the heedless."
