Was the Prophet of Allah, Sulaiman (peace be upon him), able to see the jinn, or else how were they able to serve him by his command in building and other tasks while he could not see them?

Allah subjugated the jinn to Solomon (peace be upon him) in response to his supplication. He used to see them, address them, and punish those among them who erred. Scholars mentioned that Solomon's companions used to see the jinn in their true forms, citing as evidence the hadith about the ifrit from among the jinn who tried to attack the Prophet (peace be upon him). Al-Khattabi and others used this hadith as proof that Solomon's companions saw the jinn. Even those who denied that humans could see jinn made an exception for prophets, so Solomon's seeing of the jinn is established. Likewise, it is possible and does occur for non-prophets to see them after they have materialized in forms other than their original one.
