Was Ka'b al-Ahbar a Companion or a Successor, and was he trustworthy in narrating Hadith, or are some of the Ahadith narrated by him weak or baseless, and in what era did he live?

Ka'b al-Ahbar is Ka'b ibn Mati' al-Himyari, Abu Ishaq. He embraced Islam during the caliphate of Abu Bakr and was among the senior Tabi'un. He passed away in the year 32 AH. The authors of the Six Books of Hadith narrated from him in matters of Tafsir, and he is considered reliable. He used to narrate stories from the Children of Israel without attributing them to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
