Filial piety is superior and greater in reward than charity, for it is among the most beloved deeds to Allah after prayer performed on time. Giving money to one's mother, even if she is not in need, is considered an act of maintaining ties of kinship, kindness, and bringing joy to her, and it is an excellent form of piety. Dividing money between charity and filial piety yields a greater reward, especially maintaining ties with one's mother. If possible, combining regular charity with an additional amount for one's mother is better and brings a greater reward.
