To what extent is it permissible for men to wear a gold watch on the basis that it is a tool and not an adornment, and is it permissible to manufacture or repair it?

It is forbidden for a man to wear gold, whether it is a watch, a ring, or anything else, based on the hadith: "Indeed, these two [gold and silk] are forbidden for the males of my Ummah." This includes items plated with gold, even if the gold is a small amount. However, if the watch is made of precious stones other than gold, it is permissible for a man to wear it, as long as it is not women's jewelry or similar to it, and as long as possessing it is not extravagance.

Manufacturing or repairing gold watches for men is forbidden because it is assisting in sin. However, it is permissible for women.
