What is the ruling on Nabidh? What are its types? And which type is intoxicating?

It is permissible to drink nabidh before it ferments (i.e., before it turns into wine), provided two conditions are met: First, that three days and nights do not pass over it; and second, that two different things are not combined in its preparation (such as dates and raisins). The proof for its permissibility is the hadith of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her: "We used to make nabidh for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a waterskin... We would make it in the morning, and he would drink it in the evening." The proof for the time limit condition is the hadith of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would have raisins steeped for him, and he would drink it on that day, the next day, and the day after, until the evening of the third day. Then he would command that it be given to others to drink or poured out." The proof for the condition of not combining ingredients is the hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) "forbade combining dates and raisins together for nabidh, and he forbade combining fresh dates and unripe dates together."
