What is the ruling on raising pigeons, feeding them, and benefiting from the grains they gather from other people's farms, and is this among the characteristics of the people of Lot?

There is no objection to raising pigeons, whether for adornment or for meat, provided their rights are observed. Jurists have inferred the permissibility of this from the hadith: "What did the little bird do, O Aba 'Umayr?" It is stipulated that pigeons should not be released to eat from others' farms unless with their permission, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The wealth of a Muslim person is not lawful except with his willing consent." However, if pigeons go to farms unintentionally by their owner, then there is no guarantee for what they destroy, for pigeons and similar creatures that cannot be guarded are not prohibited from being kept, and it is upon the owners of the crops to protect them.
